“There is no substitute for an environment that allows young people the opportunity for rich discourse with others who have talents, backgrounds, experiences and interests different from their own. A child’s awareness and depth of understanding of their world is greatly enhanced when they are educated in a learning community that encourages diversity.”

Laird Warner, Ph.D.

ORIGINS

The Adopt A Scholar Foundation was founded early in 2005 in a collaboration between Dale and Doreen Petrovitch and The Walden School. Over the young lifetime of this initiative, the program has evolved and developed and is now working to expand it's offerings.

Created to provide an exceptional education for young scholars from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds living in the Chester-Upland School District, the Adopt A Scholar foundation's goal was to provide tuition for one child each year. Currently the program now is supporting THREE children through 8th grade, reaching our goal of one, fully paid tuition granted to one child over the last 3 years.

We are now looking to expand on to our early goal and ask for your help in donating to our fund, putting us in contact with a school looking to partner with us or contacting us on a candidate you feel would benefit from the Adopt A Scholar program.

Please join us in our belief that we can help...

"One Child, One Miracle at a Time."
